Het ontwerp van het EnergyVille 2-gebouw streeft naar een zo compact mogelijke vormgeving. Qua beeldtaal kwam de inspiratie door de plek zelf, die enerzijds een historische link met fossiele brandstoffen heeft, maar anderzijds volledig in het teken staat van de transitie naar hernieuwbare energie. Dat interessante contrast keert terug in de architectuur. Het gebouw heeft een technologische’ uitstraling, maar sluit door zijn matte, ingetogen kleur perfect aan bij het industriële verleden van de site. Voorts wordt de kwaliteit van het landschap maximaal benut.
