Een combinatie van een aluminium vliesgevel en aluminium panelen geven Van der Valk in Leeuwarden een heel eigen gezicht. Open aan de entreezijde, waardoor daglicht diep in het gebouw doordringt; (gedeeltelijk) gesloten aan de zijkanten.
Mede door de (zon)oriëntatie werd het mogelijk het duurzaamste hotel van Friesland te realiseren.
