De Torenflat in Gorinchem is gebouwd in periode 1959-1961 en (volgens kenners) de oudste torenflat van Nederland. Het woonblok van Van Embden is een voorbeeld van de Wederopbouwarchitectuur (1940-1958). De flat stond zelf op de nominatie om rijksmonument te worden, maar heeft die status tot op heden nog niet.

In 2019 is de flat gerenoveerd. De gevel werd aan de buitenzijde geïsoleerd en werd voorzien van nieuwe baksteenarchitectuur die aansluit bij het verleden van het iconische gebouw.
