Architect Fuksas heeft hier geprobeerd een eerbetoon aan de Bijenkorf van Ponti neer te zetten. Dat zit hem vooral in de tegelbekleding van de gevel. Die van de Bijenkorf zijn in Italië gemaakt, deze komen uit Makkum en zijn speciaal voor dit gebouw ontwikkeld. Hoewel de tegels niet de nuances hebben van die van de Bijenkorf, is er toch een interessant gevelbeeld ontstaan.
