Wenslauerstraat

In the past ten years the Wenslauerstraat in Amsterdam's Bellamybuurt has undergone a metamorphosis. In a collaboration between Stadsdeel West, housing corporation Stadgenoot and various private individuals, architects and small developers, dozens of homes have been renovated and more than ten old homes have been demolished and replaced by new construction.
The Bellamybuurt is a neighborhood where living and working are traditionally mixed and where there is a great diversity of buildings.
In 2011, M3H has already restored a house and built a new 'steel' house. Later in 2013, five more homes designed by M3H were completed: two single-family homes with a garden and three small apartments.
The ensemble consists of three wooden houses and has been carefully fitted into the profile of the Wenslauerstraat. The houses are abstractly detailed and have been given a sculptural and idiosyncratic look that fits well with the diversity in the Wenslauerstraat. The facades and the sloping roof surfaces are covered with untreated FSC-approved Sucupira Amarela.
