Mozesbrug
Description
What if the surroundings are that beautiful that the best thinkable bridge would be an invisible one? This was question the architects struggled with before coming up with the Trench Bridge. In stead of crossing over the water, they invented a bridge that split the water, like Moses in the Red Sea.
The underwater bridge provides access to Fort De Roovere, part of the historic West Brabant Waterline. The design by the architectural firm Ro & Ad is made of sheet piling of acetylated wood (Accoya) on either side of the watercourse. The top of the barrier being just above the water, providing an unusual perspective from within the bridge. Inside the bridge a hardwood deck and hardwood stairs provide a comfortable acces.
